In the village of Belaya Gora in Petrozavodsk district the buyer-ups purchased different marble articles. Near this village there are some marble major deposits known from the XVIIIth century. The marble breaking in Belaya Gora started since 1757. During a long period of time the marble breaking in Belaya Gora was under the charge of the building comission of Isaak Cathedral in St.-Petersburg. The Karelian stone was also used in the building of the Kazansky Cathedral and many other buildings of the north Russian capital.
