Severinsaari island

The island is situated in Medvezhegorsky region on the Segozero Lake, in 10 kilometers from the village of Karelian Maselga.

Dolomite is the only material which forms the island. There is a unique complex of organic remains of the upper jatuly in structure of dolomites. The age of jatuly is 2 milliards years.

In composition of pink and gray dolomites stromatolites and microphitolites (fossilized algal remains) are revealed which you will not meet anywhere. One of them is Djulmekella which is the only rocky element of the Dulmek Island.

Protective measures should put a ban on extracting and moving the soil, any kind of buildings, setting the fire and unauthorized collecting of specimens.
