Kalgalaksha (fin.Kalkalahti) - village in the Kem district. The name probably comes from the Sami “kealg, kealgan "reindeer moss, a place suitable for grazing deer."
Located at the mouth of the river Kalga in the Karelian coast of the White Sea. The fishing collective farm named after twelfth anniversary of October existed under the Soviet government and continue to work now. Currently, the local population is engaged in preparation of berries (blueberries, cranberries, blueberries, cloudberries, cranberries), mushrooms, fish (whitefish, flounder, cod, pike).
