Throughout the human history, people have left scars on the memories of soldiers and civilians - the history of war fills the most terrible and heroic pages in the book of life. Interest in war history is common in the Karelia region because it was the scene of bloody battles from 1939 to 1944 - the during Russo-Finnish Winter war and the Great Patriotic war.
Nowadays, people search for information about their ancestor who went missing in action during the wars. Groups of people get information from the Military commissariats’ archives and come to search for the remains of those who went missing in action and to visit the mass grave sites

Many monuments and memorial complexes were built up on the territory of our region to keep the history alive for the future generation. Military historical trips and festivals are organized in Karelia in Medvezhegorsky, Suojarvsky and Pitkyarantsky regions.
