Karelia, with it's attractive geological location and many centuries of cultural heritage, occupies a special place in the tourist market and is always interesting for Russian and foreign tourists.
There are geological sights in Karelia that were created both by nature and man. In the North of our region tourists can find religious monuments of Saami nation on Kuzova archipelago - labyrinths and so called stone-"seids" (seita).
Karelian figures on crags on Onego lake and White Sea coasts are well known among tourists too. Petroglyphs are rock carvings made by ancient man. This is an exceptionally valuable piece of evidence of the distant past coming to us from the Neolithic Age. The age of Karelian petroglyphs is about 6 thousand years.
